My Story
I know that being a human is hard, and sometimes overwhelmingly hard. Things going on within us, around us, or happening to us (or all three) can challenge how we experience and engage with life and ourselves. Sometimes we need helping in sorting out and changing our thoughts, feelings, and actions in order to find a way to live both comfortably and authentically. Sometimes we need help finding new perspectives, tools, or understandings of ourselves, others, or the world. Sometimes we are comfortable within ourselves, but are facing difficulty in interacting with others and need assistance in uncovering friction points. I’ve been at all of these points personally, and assisting others in finding and being comfortable with themselves and their lives is the root of my passion as a therapist.
I put an emphasis on a collaborative approach that focuses on reducing your immediate distress through psychoeducation and identifying ways that we can create a sense of agency. From there, I focus on assisting you in understanding the why and how of who you are - addressing the deeper patterns and experiences that have contributed to your struggles. My sessions are typically focused, directive, and challenging - positively so. The goal is always to provide safe place for you to explore and understand yourself, which, while not always easy, provides an opportunity to find and experience life in the way that is right for you.
Whether you’re seeking help for a temporary challenge, addressing historic struggles, or needing long-term support, I’m here to help you.
